Gentlemen; May 16, 2011

With great regret it is my duty to inform you that one of our brothers has lost a child... Our brother Dave Key"s daughter Emily was killed in Dothan in the past few days... No parent is supposed to live beyond their children and nothing could be as hurtful as living through the loss of a child... It is my hope that our brother and his wife know that they have a group of brothers that will do anything we can.. and will continue to hold them in our prayers during this impossible time... Dave has been in the Krewe for 6 years and must know that if we can help to shoulder this burden in any way we are eager to help and will remain in support as long as the need lingers...

Viewing will be at Pinecrest Funeral Home from 6-8pm Wednesday

Funeral services will be Thursday at 6pm

Please keep this brother and his wife in your thoughts and prayers...

 For the krewe...   k

Gentlemen   May 11,2011

A wonderful event... Great time and great food...The turn out was great and we all had a great time the race was the most exciting on any Derby in recent memory... I thought I won but was cheering for the wrong horse... those who missed it missed a beautiful evening with good friends...

I need to say one more thing in report...The girls arranged and hosted us at this event and did an outstanding job... I started the Saturday Night Dinner out as a way for Mystics to gather together socially... it was just a coincidence that the "Pinks" were having an annual event and allowed us to join them... They made arrangements with the restaurant and paid for appetizers and asked for nothing in return...

While I was publically explaining childish rifts with other organizations they were out getting raffle items to sell tickets for and setting up fund raising games to send money to Hackleburg, Alabama which was destroyed by the tornadoes that devastated central and north Alabama... they took it upon themselves to do all the work and didn't even bother to ask us for a donation...They raised $650 and then put in an additional $100 to send to this small Alabama town that seems to be forgotten by mainstream help agencies...( they picked this town because one of our members wives is originally from there) Their efforts were for the best of intentions without fanfare and without drawing attention to themselves - for all the right reasons...Makes me feel pretty small considering where my priorities were this past week...

One of our members asked me "What do they bring to the table?" when talking about us joining the Pink Stilettos - Well all I have to say is having them around me makes me a better person...I'm proud to be associated with them... Thanks Pinks for bringing us up a few notches...

For those who would like to help Hackleburg, Al. a fund has been created at any Wells Fargo Bank titled "Benefit for the Burg" and helping them will make you feel better I promise... I'm asking our board to match their $100... I think its the least we can do...

The next "Saturday Night Dinner Out" will be at Cottons restaurant... The why and when will be coming soon...

Gentlemen:   May 2,2011

As you all know this coming Saturday May 7th is the first "Saturday Night Dinner Out"...

Festivities start with pre-dinner drinks around 4pm  with happy hour drink specials and a little horse race the "Pinks" have arranged to take place at 5:45...

Dinner with specials designed just for us should start right after the race... The Girls are very graciously providing the pre dinner snacks for our "race party" in the private meeting room on the west end of the restaurant...

This event is of course for us to gather in great company and spend some fun/quality  time with our brothers and sisters AND to give back to  one of our sponsor businesses...

Every time we raise money, need a prize, or just ask for anything Cobalt's and Brother Brian has stepped up and now its time to pay back and have a great time doing it...

Bring all your non member friends and show them what there missing... and let's show Cobalt's how much we appreciate their support...

I want to thank the Maidens in Pink for all their hard work and inclusion in their "Annual Kentucky Derby Social"...

So come by boat - come by seaplane - come by land  - jus come on down pick a horse and have some fun...

 For the Krewe...   k

Gentlemen: April 17,2011

I want to thank John Johnson for an outstanding THUNDER RUN Poker Run 2011…He single handedly got all sponsors and did 98% of all logistical work involved with the event… Just think how cool this could be if about ten people helped next year…

I would like to thank ALL our sponsors without whom we could not have had a successful event…

I would like to thank our “new sisters” who helped at the bag stuffing and every party selling shirts- signing up participants and selling raffle tickets and helped with all drawings…Hug a pink when you see one we could not have done it without them…

A special thanks to our treasurer for his hard work in keeping us straight – and a big thanks to “Big Daddy” Don Bain for all his hard work for three days plus - selling shirts…

Congratulations to the biggest winner of the night- Paul Webb- who won the gold pendant and split the $6000 grand prize

Congratulations to $500 dollar drawing winners Blake Lowe and Jim Eberline… The turn in for receipts this year was outstanding…I know our sponsors have got to be a lot happier with the business this poker run generated for them… A big thanks to all of you who spent money at the stops to make this a positive for all stops/sponsors…

AND… most of all thanks to all who participated in the Poker Run and its parties…What a great Time…showing once again what a great organization …What a great Krewe

Gentlemen: April 6, 2011

As most of you have already received...Statements have been sent via e-mail from your treasurer...

No more waiting on the girl to get them ready...no more getting them from her and putting stamps on them ...no more snail mail...

Except for the few members who don't have e-mail accounts we will not be wasting money on postage and time waiting on the post office...

You must still send in your payment through the mail or in person...

It takes time to set up a merchant account so that your financial information is secure and the Krewe is protected against electronic theft or fraud...BUT very soon you will be able to handle all these transactions through this website...

If your statement is incorrect please contact Steven or I our contact info is on this website...

Gentlemen:  April 2,2011

Thank you for your vote of confidence. Your trust is very humbling and it is very much an honor to serve as your president for the 2011/2012 season.

For those of you who missed the annual meeting and for those who want to review, we have a very aggressive calendar planned for 2011. It is our goal to give you as much as we can for your annual dues. I know we are “just” a Mardi Gras Society but after all we are the biggest and the best Mardi Gras Society in paradise… Times change but standards must remain…

I welcome with open arms our new “SISTER” Organization “Pink Stilettos“… with their support we have solidified our place as the biggest and the brightest light on the beach. This is very possibly the single best thing to insure our longevity and financial stability that has happened since the formation of the Krewe… My hope is for a long and fruitful relationship with both organizations. One that will allow both to grow in numbers and become financially healthy for years to come…

We have your Poker Run April 14- 16th and JJ has a great event weekend planned that is shaping up to be the best ever. If you can help we need you to call John Johnson - 256-749-6090 Thanks…

We are starting something we’ve never done before… Saturday Dinner Night Out

I will be making arrangements with our sponsoring restaurants and member partners and creating menu specials especially for us and most Saturday nights starting on May 7 at Cobalt. Beyond that we will designate a restaurant to co-mingle and show our collective support. These events have two great reasons - to provide our local restaurants with our own economic boost and to rub elbows with the greatest group of friends around…

If your going out to eat anyway - it makes great sense to spend the time with good food and great friends…

On June 11th we are hosting a fishing trip and a sailing cruise… Both locally done with the fishing trip out of Zeke’s aboard the “Zeke’s Lady” - and the sailing charter out of PBR’s dock aboard the “Wild Hearts” Both charter business’ are owned by member brothers and are going to be great fun - both charters are open to you and your guests at a low low per head price. The fishing trip is for all ages and genders but the sailing cruise is for Adults only, please…Whether your fishing for trophies or trophy fishing these are both going to be a blast… space is limited so call me at 251-752-2472 to book a spot on either boat…Price and details are on the events page of this website…

On September 29th we are having the first Mystic’s Mexican Luau a four day Carnival Cruise departing from Mobile on Carnival’s Elation… This is cruise to Cozumel Mexico and we have booked around 50 cabins so far and it is evolving into a unbelievable trip… The cruise is not the most luxurious on the high seas or the most exotic location on the planet… but it is filled with the greatest group of party animals ever assembled together since our last ball…We have a few cabins left and they start at $372.66 per person If you want to go call me or contact Brother Tom Doar - Tom@Doartravel.com

On September 17th we’ve scheduled the 2nd biggest party on the island…

“The Spectacular MOP Luau”

We are still working on where and our new Luau Chairman “ Big Daddy” Don Clay will not disappoint… As you know this event is completely included in your dues and is an all you can eat and drink beach party - with almost live music and dead food and beautiful bartender nymphs to take care of almost your every need…So Bring yo football hat, an empty hand, an empty stomach and yo dancing shoes…

On November 12th we are having the third biggest blowout - the 26th annual MOP Southeastern Sudden Death Rib-Off and BBQ Competition featuring The Frank Brown International Song Writers Festival As many of you know this is our second year to host this event and with three very capable chairmen we are expecting a grand event . The event will be a two day affair at the OB Waterfront Park and this year will be a premier event listed on the Alabama Heritage BBQ Trail and the event will be formatted along KCBS rules and regulations with professional judges. This year we will expand the event to include a public tasting tent and live music and a commercial class of local restaurants as well as our local backyard champions… This is shaping up to be a gut busting - sticky finger event showing teams from all over the country how we do it MOP style…

On December 3rd its time to announce our Queen with the Annual Queen’s Reception In the last few years we’ve lost this event due to financial restraints but were plugging it back in and with the very capable Eddie Kessee and the marshals hosting this event it will be outstanding. This event is included in your dues and open to members of the men’s and women’s organizations and their significant others only… This is the only event on your calendar all year that is a “NO GUEST” affair…

On February 5th 2012 we start into the home stretch with next to the largest Super Bowl Party in the world… Well maybe not the world but were working on it …

With a new SBP Chairman John “The BUD Man” Merchant we are planning an “OFF THE HOOK” party at a totally new venue that will be terrific with something for everyone…

On February 18th 2012 we again will host the biggest party in the history of the world - Mystics Of Pleasure 2012 Parade and Ball on the streets of Orange Beach and two ballrooms of the beautiful Perdido Beach Resort… That’s right I said TWO Ballrooms… More details to follow…
