MOP Parade 2012 aka biggest parade on the island Saturday Feb 18th rolls 5:30 This is our parade and ends at our Ball. The parade loads at Zeke’s all day. You can load your throws - stake out your spot on the float - get ready to party… Per a new mandate from the OBPD we will roll out of Zeke’s parking lot at 4:30 and be escorted to the parade start at Wintzell's. Float pictures will start at 4pm at Zeke’s. That means everyone must be on their float and ready to go at 4PM. The parade goes from Wintzell’s to Perdido Beach Resort

Wharf Parade Actually two parades Monday Feb 20th The first parade is a walking parade for kids and pets. It starts at 2pm and line up is at 1pm. All pets must be on a leash… no aggressive breeds please… The second parade is a full on riding and bead throwing event. All throws are being provided by Odyssey Events at the Wharf and loads at the Wharf in front of the Convention Center. All participants must be in line and on board by 4:30 parade rolls at 5pm. Parade ends on main street with live bands and free food… This parade and street party is an attempt by the City of Orange Beach to create a weekend long Mardi Gras celebration to promote Orange Beach as a Mardi Gras destination.
Fat Tuesday Parade 2012 Tuesday Feb 21 rolls 2pm This is the same parade we have always participated in and is produced by the City of Orange Beach. Line up is along the roadside starting at Wintzell’s and riding to Hwy 161. This parade is open to all members and their guests, so bring the grandchildren friends and spouses. Throw packages are available for 100.00/riding adult… throw pkg. includes 4 cases beads. You may bring your own beads of course. Loading starts at 10am at Zeke’s floats will roll from Zeke’s at 12:30 parade rolls at 2pm… Reservations must be in by Feb 13th meeting. We will load your beads on the floats but you will need to stage your own beads. Please allow time for staging. Parents/grandparents must accompany children on the same float.

As always this event is an all inclusive food and drink that allows you and your guests free access to all areas of the resort. Invitations set = (Formal Invitation and 2 guest tickets)
The chairman for invitations is Paul Webb. He will be handing out invitations and can answer any questions regarding guests and spouses/escorts. All riding active members receive a set of invitations for the ball. This allows you (in costume or tails) and your spouse/escort and a guest couple. Your name will appear on the master list at registration and your guest will present their guest tickets at registration. Your spouse may pick up her member armband at registration anytime Saturday or at rehearsal Friday night. Guests must present their guest ticket at registration Saturday after the parade to receive their non-member armband. Guests will not be allowed to enter the main ballroom or the Pink Stiletto Ballroom until after call outs. Additional invitations are available for $200. All invitations must be filled out on the bottom with the sponsoring member’s name.
Ball Attire
All members must be in costume or white tie -black tails AND A MASK. All member spouse/escorts must be in white tie black tails or floor length formal gown. All guests must be in white tie - black tails floor length formals. Dress military uniforms are acceptable replacement for white tie - tails. Guests from other Mardi Gras organizations who have ridden in our parade THIS YEAR may come to the ball in their costume and their spouse/escort must be in whit tie - black tails or floor length formal. NO turtle neck shirts, non military uniforms, cocktail dresses, short formals, tea length dresses or pants dresses allowed. INVITATIONS WILL NOT BE HONORED FOR IMPROPER ATTIRE
Members
Parade riding members will be delivered to the ball by the parade floats and will arrive between 7:30 pm ant 7:45pm in front of PBR. All members who have not received their member arm bands will proceed to the registration desk and pick up a member arm band for themselves and their spouse/escort. All members and spouse/escort must have an arm band. All members will have access to all ball areas - bars - food including the Pink Stilettos ballroom on the Eastside of the main lobby from the time you arrive through 2am. Your arm band includes access and food/drink including gratuity. All members must wear masks in the main lobby area until after call outs 9pm
Guests
Guests are encouraged to arrive by 8pm and make their way to registration and present their guest tickets and receive their non-member armbands. Each guest will receive one arm band/guest ticket. Each non-member armband allows the guests access to the main lobby area until approximately 8:30 pm when they will be allowed into the main ballroom for call outs Call outs will start at approximately 8:50 and last approx 20 min until this year’s queen and her father have the first dance. Then all areas will open to all members and guests and the bands start in the main ballroom and the Pink Stilettos ballroom on the East side of the main lobby. Drinks will be available to your guests at the piano bar in the main lobby. They must have their non-member armbands to receive free drinks. You may visit/receive your guests in the main lobby at your leisure but you must wear your mask until after call outs.
Member Costumes
The chairman for your costumes this year is Lester Bryant. He will be present at the meetings to answer any questions regarding costumes and repairs/replacements. Please try on your costume and verify that it hasn’t shrunk since last year. Get a mask and be comfortable in it. Check mask for fit and visibility, fit to cheap sunglasses recommended.
